I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter what business you are in - whether it’s network marketing, direct sales or your own niche - following up with your prospects and customers is the mother lode to bringing in more team members and/or more customers. That ultimately means more money for you.
There’s a reason why the saying goes … “The Fortune is in The Follow-up.”
Sounds pretty logical and even childishly simple … all of us have been told over and over again to make sure we follow-up with our leads, but how many of us actually do it? (I’ll give you a hint - all of the successful people in your industry.)
Ask around … if you are like me I’ll bet you’ll find that many of your team and your colleagues will sheepishly admit to not following up with their prospects and customers. If they are successful now, I’ll lay odds that they can tie the beginning of their success to when they started following up with their prospects and customers consistently.
Seems kinda silly to me that many of us avoid the one thing that is guaranteed to build our business.
Following up with these folks is like shooting fish in a barrel. I mean, seriously, they are already highly qualified prospects or customers. They are pretty much sold on your product, service or opportunity. Why do we leave them just hanging there?
They just need to know you care and that you remember them.
The important thing to remember is that if you want to build YOUR business and YOUR team … and you are concentrating on what YOU want — the bonuses & the new titles & the car or trip — you’ve just goofed up.
You have to shift your focus. It’s not about you any more. Now, it’s about THEM … what they want and what they need. If you concentrate on THEM and make THEM your priority, your business will grow as a natural result of you caring about them.
There are 3 big reasons why we stumble and struggle with following up with prospects and customers:
1. We are afraid to hear “NO”
2. We are a procrastinator by nature
3. We forget to shift our focus to what our prospects & customers need & want
Stay tuned for ways to stop being your own worst enemy and start building the business you deserve!
