Good morning to you this Memorial Day weekend!

I just wanted to comment on a few thoughts I had about what it takes to achieve freedom. Sometimes it’s huge - like why we celebrate Memorial Day here in the USA this weekend. Sometimes it’s personal, on a much smaller scale - but still very important. Usually there isn’t a special weekend set up to celebrate it - but celebrations of freedom always make me think about why we work so hard for it ourselves.

Why are you considering joining a candle company - and you should be considering a candle company!

If you already joined a candle company - why did you join?

There are generally two reasons to join our candle company:

1. You love the products and want to get them at half price. You may also want to give your family and some friends a discount on the products.

2. You joined for the opportunity to make a lot of money.

If you chose #2, how hard are you working your business? That doesn’t include prep time or thinking about it, that means the time spent out there talking to people and building a business.

Literally everyone goes out in public a couple times a week. Even if it’s just to buy a loaf of bread, make it a point to give out business cards with samples attached. How many cook-outs, parties & picnics have you been invited to just this weekend alone?? It’s a perfect opportunity to get started if you’ve been dragging your feet!

With gas at $4 a gallon and climbing it’s a solid fact that everyone needs more money. YOU have a solution to the slow economy! Candle sales are not dropping. The person you spoke to last year may now be looking for a way to make more money. Put the two facts together and introduce your business.

  • 80% of all people who join network marketing don’t make any money
  • 20% make some money
  • and 20% of that group makes a six-figure income
  • To be in that six-figure income group what do you need to do?

    1. Pass out 10 business cards with scent samples 5 days a week.

    2. Get back to anyone that contacts you within 24 hours - this means a phone call, people! Only e-mail the person as a follow-up if you had to leave a voicemail. If you left a voicemail and an email, call them AGAIN.

    3. Get your new team members trained immediately. Call them and send them an email with what to start doing within their first 48 hours in the business. Having received their first goodie box from the company is NOT necessary to start working the business.

    4. Make sure everyone knows what you do. You own a home business. You can help whoever you are talking to achieve their goal of financial freedom. YOU have something they want and need.

This will get you started. Teach your new people to do what you do. Some people are recruiting a lot of people but their team isn’t recruiting additional people. That means there is a breakdown in your system. What you are doing either isn’t easily duplicated or you aren’t teaching them how to do it. As soon as that new person gets signed up make sure they learn how to recruit new people - and why!

Challenge yourself to do the above four points for 90 days. Keep a log of every day and what you did. You will get results! The key is to keep doing it and teaching your new people to do it, and so on down the line.

That is how a large organization and six-figure income is developed.

Where do you want to be in 6-months … a year from now? To get there, you’re going to need to get started NOW.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend! Where will your business be next Memorial Day?

Most home businesses are designed so that you make money by:
    • selling a product

     -OR-

    • when you build a team of others looking for the same thing you are.

The key is to find what works for you, your lifestyle, your comfort zone & works within your budget and time constraints.

    • First things first:  Is the product something that you love and would buy at retail price from someone else?If it’s not something that you can get excited about, love to use & would be willing to spend money on over & over again, how are you going to convince others to do the same?

    • Is the product CONSUMABLE? Can it be completely used up in a fairly short amount of time so the customer will come back to you for more?

    • Is the product AFFORDABLE? Do you really want to try and sell today’s savvy consumers a product that costs 2-3 times as much as the leading retail competitor?  I think not.

    • Is the product something you and your customers will want to use DAILY? If it takes your customers 2 years to use up the product you sold them, you will need a constant stream of new customers.  That can get very old, very fast — and there are better things to do with your time.

    • What’s YOUR piece of the pie? Are you going to make any money selling the product? If you only make 20% to 30% profit per sale — is your valuable time really worth it?

    • Do you understand the compensation plan. First of all — can you even read it? If the darned thing requires a Ph.D. in Economics to understand how you make your money, how are you going to explain it to your friends & potential business partners?

    • Look for a business whose compensation plan is simple, effective, easy to understand & puts money in YOUR pocket.

    • Is the business DUPLICATABLE? Can ANYBODY do this business? Can it be done without spending a lot of money?

    • Does the company & your sponsor provide FREE tools & training so that YOU learn the business fast. Are these tools provided for YOUR team (for FREE) so that all you have to do is point them to a training website for everything they need to hit the ground running?

    • Is the company a “party plan” company. Do you have to have home parties (sometimes called classes, etc.) to make money? Home parties can be very lucrative, but will generally take you away from your family 2-3 nights a week.  Are home parties the only way to make money in the company?  Are there other options?   You want to choose a company that allows you to earn money in a manner that you are comfortable with and fits your lifestyle.

    • Is there a monthly quota?  How much of YOUR money do you have to reinvest with the company every month to secure your residual check?  If you have to spend $200-$500 a month just so you qualify for a $20 commission check - it’s going to be really hard to convince your family that all the time you are spending on this venture is worth it.

    • Find a company with a reasonably priced monthly auto-ship where there are no additional obligations.  You need to have money left over after the auto-ship for advertising & the basic costs of running a business.

    • The final and most important point — is this something you can have FUN with?  It’s a FACT that it’s going to take 3-5 years to build your business to the point where (if you want) it will replace a current corporate income.  So, if you find you aren’t having fun or the products aren’t something you want to represent for the next 20 years then you might want to keep searching.
